A small plane carrying officials from Jayawijaya regency skidded off the runway and struck a big stone upon landing in Central Mamberamo regency in Papua on Friday morning.
Antara news agency reported the government officials would accompany Governor Barnabas Suebu, who was visiting the newly formed regency as part of his annual field trip.
An aide to Central Mamberamo regent, Willem Yobi, said the seven-seater plane chartered from Prima Air broke both its propellers as a result of the crash, but all the passengers aboard the aircraft survived unscathed.
"Nobody was killed, but the plane was severely damaged as it smashed into the stone. Building materials were placed around the airport which is about to be renovated,” Yopi said.
