Lily Chadijah Wahid of the National Awakening Party, who was among nine politicians that initiated an inquiry into the Bank Century bailout, expressed her disappointment at the sluggish progress the case had made.
“I’m saddened by the fact no one is willing to take responsibility for state losses of Rp 6.76 trillion,” she said Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
Lily said she hopes the case will be settled transparently.
“Despite the challenges, I will continue to pursue settlement of this case. We still have homework to do,” said Lily, adding that she would reunite the nine case initiators to discuss possible alternatives for resolution.
Previously the House had declared that the decision to bail out the bank had been flawed, and demanded legal measures be taken against those responsible for it.
The bailout was authorized in November 2008 by the then Bank Indonesia governor Boediono (now vice president), and then finance minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati (now one of the World Bank's managing directors).
