fter weeks of denial, gossip show presenter and model Cut Tari has finally admitted to being in one of three sex videos which were widely circulated on the Internet. Her lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea said Friday her client had confessed to appearing in the video with boyband lead singer Nazriel “Ariel” Ilham.
Tari, Ariel, and another presenter Luna Maya, have been declared suspects in the video scandal. “In the case file, we explain that she was in the video with the singer,” Hotman said as quoted by kompas.com. Hotman said the confession came only recently as his client did not want to preempt the police’s investigation into the case. “She [Tari] has been named a suspect since Monday. We did not publish it as we did want to move ahead of the police,” he said.
The lawyer said her client was not aware she was being videotaped, and did not know who spread the video. “She has never seen, kept or distributed the video. Men often videotape their love making using cellular phones,” he said.

What a drama queen she is!!! It was hilarious watching her apologize at her press conference. She’s playing the victim here? If you are a celebrity, this is the consequence. If you don’t want to be scrutinized leave show business. Get on with your life, love.

I pity this woman. Her family must be going through hell, as she is herself, God knows. But Indonesians needn’t. We have the same judgmental issues here in Kuala Lumpur. If I were her, I’d leave show business for good.

Why does the media focus on the private details of other people’s lives (celebrities or not) instead of focusing on more pressing issues like corrupt government officials and other more important matters.

I feel so sorry for this stupid lady who let her partner record their intimacy, but I feel even more sorry about some commentators’ criticism of Indonesia. I agree that the media has blown this incident out of proportion, but it does not represent the Indonesian people as a whole.

Some countries are just as hypocritical as Indonesia. Take the Tiger Woods case, for example.

People are condemning Cut Tari not because she made a sex video with Ariel. It’s the “why” question that makes me sick. Why did she still do it? She is already married right? And apart from that, Ariel was too. She should be ashamed.

It’s disturbing when the police brand it’s victims as villains. Regardless of whether they starred in the videos or not, I doubt they intended the videos for public viewing. Having these videos released did not benefit any of the people involved.

By going after the victims, the police are deterring any future victims of reporting similar crimes. While not as extreme, one can draw parallels between this case, and the case in Saudi Arabia, last year, when a 23 year old lady was sentenced to a 100 lashes after she was raped.

If society doesn’t speak out now, there may be an eventual moral shift in Indonesia, where anyone involved with anything to do with sex will be vilified. All in all, the Indonesia police really need to get their act together.

Some have commented that it is her flesh and therefore she is free to let others use it. How many of them would give this freedom to their wives and mothers? Indonesians should restore their confidence in their Islamic way of life. We must free our minds from the intellectual and cultural colonialism of the West.

It is amazing how some of us are still worshipping the Western values such as as displayed by this case. It is so demeaning to see people believing that values from the west must be good.
We must instead export our Islamic values of modesty and loyalty to the west. They are in greater need of it.
