Fire razes houses in South Sumatra

A fire razed scores of houses in a densely populated area in Pagaralam subdistrict in Pagaralam City, South Sumatra on Friday morning. There was no fatality reported.

Antara news agency reported that the fire, that started at around 5 a.m., destroyed six houses and 13 rent rooms and caused severe damage to four other houses, most of which were constructed of wood.

Local fire agency deployed three fire trucks and extinguished the fire at around 7 a.m.

Local administration reported that the incident affected as many as 24 families and 60 people.

The police have yet to determine the cause of fire as an investigation was underway.
