Spiritual guru Anand Krishna to face trial over sexual abuse allegations

Jakarta High Prosecutors' Office has endorsed a sexual abuse case involving spiritual guru Anand Krishna to proceed to court, Anand's lawyer said Friday.

“We hope the trial will begin immediately,” Agung Mattauch, Anand's lawyer, told Antara news agency in Jakarta.

Agung said that his client had been informed of the prosecutors' office endorsement on Wednesday.

He also said the trial would begin within the next two weeks at the South Jakarta District court.

Anand has been alleged of committing a sexual harassment against his female student via hypnosis.

The case was unveiled when one of Anand's students, Tara Pradipta Laksmi, reported the case to the police earlier this year.
