JAKARTA: West Jakarta administration is developing biogas from trash and animal waste as an alternative source of energy.

There are currently five pilot project houses in RW 03 in Palmerah subdistrict using biogas for cooking.

"We will develop this biogas energy to help reducing household expenses. However we still need to improve it," West Jakarta Mayor Djoko Ramadhan said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.

The biogas energy he said would give double benefit, as an alternative energy and a waste-reduction initiative.

He said he would cooperate with experts from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to improve tools to source the biogas. - JP
