A number of amateur photographers are displaying their works on the wall of  Cikini train station in Central Jakarta in an exhibition which will last until Monday.

Over 30 photography enthusiasts are taking part in the event themed "Luka liku laku Jakarta" (Jakarta's sold wounds, winds) after undergoing one month of free basic training

The open space gallery presents the many faces of Jakarta, ranging from two old men playing chess on the sidewalk to a view from the back seat of bajaj, or three-wheel taxi.

"The exhibition represents our concern. We think basic photography skills should not be commercialized," Almarsyah Phe-Ree from Galeri Bau Tanah, organizer of the workshop, said Saturday.

He said the free workshops, featuring professional photographer Tirto Andayanto, have been fully booked up to November.

One of the participants, Irvei Agustina, said she heard about the workshop from Facebook.

"I have learned a lot from this...such as composition, the usage of ISO, and lighting," she said.
