A 14-year-old junior high school female student in Polokarto,
Sukoharjo regency, Central Java died of avian flu on Saturday.
Sukoharjo health agency head Agus Prihatmo said he received a confirmation
about the cause of the girl death from the Health Ministry that examined the
girl blood sample.
"We are still unsure where the victim contracted the
flu, but she has a direct contact with a dead chicken in the backyard of her
house," he said.
Agus called on the villagers to pay more attention on their
health and cleanliness.
"I also asked them to go to health officers if they got
avian flu-like symptoms," he added.
