Former deputy attorney general of intelligence Wisnu Subroto denied any involvement in a graft case, in which businessman Anggodo Widjojo is being trialed for, as he testified the trial Tuesday.
Anggodo is on trial for attempting to bribe Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah, deputy chairmen of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), with Rp 5.1 billion (US$561,000) through Ari Muladu last year to drop an investigation into his brother Anggoro Widjojo.
Last year, the Constitutional Court played a recorded tape containing a wiretapped conversation between Anggodo and several people, including Wisnu, detailing their alleged attempt to settle Anggoro's case by framing the antigraft officials.
“When Anggodo called me, I was trying to help him as a friend. But I did not suggest a [legal] case,” Wisnu told the Corruption Court as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
