The National Awakening Party (PKB) faction chairman at the House of Representatives, Marwan Ja’far, says that his party has no plan at all to join under any confederation that is led by other parties.
“We, instead, want to ask all Nahdlatul Ulama-based mass organizations and parties to join the PKB,” he told reporters at the House in Senayan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Marwan also said that all PKB elite had to stand together and not to raise any idea or proposal which could hinder the party from a complete reconciliation following the fallout that took place around one year ago, during which Muhaimin Iskandar was named chairman.
“The reconciliation process is ongoing and it will take a long time to be completed,” he said.
Previously, Muhaimin said that his party would welcome smaller parties wanting to join in.
However, one of the PKB senior politicians, Lily Wahid, said that she doubted anyone would want to join her party under Muhaimin's leadership and suggested to join the Indonesian Democratic Part of Struggle (PDI-P) instead.
