The Jakarta Police’s special crimes unit has confiscated two trucks containing a total of more than 37,000 bottles of unlicensed liquor that had been smuggled into Indonesia from Singapore.

The raid was conducted on Tuesday at a industrial warehouse complex in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said Wednesday.

The police also detained suspects, ST, YM and TD, during the raid.

“The imported products did not have legal papers, potentially worth around Rp 20 billion [US$2.2 million] in state losses,” Boy said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

The beverages included international brand names including Chivas Regal and Absolut Vodka.

The illegal business began in December last year, one suspect said.

If found guilty, all suspects will face multiple charges, and a minimum of five years in jail.
