TANGERANG: Police arrested four suspects on allegations they murdered 14-year-old junior high school student Dewi Fatimah.
Tangerang police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Edi Sumitro identified the suspects as Abdillah, 18; Wahyu Hidayat, 15; Ari Ferdiansyah, 15; and Januar, 15.
“The suspects confessed that they killed the victim at the house of a friend, Tio, before they dumped the body in the bushes on Jl. Utama in the Foreign Affairs Ministry housing complex in Pondok Aren,” Edi said.
The suspects met the victim through the social networking site Facebook and later arranged a meeting after exchanging cell phone numbers, Edi said.
The suspects told detectives that they killed Dewi for her cell phone, Edi added.
“The suspects will be charged with Article 340 for premeditated murder and Article 365 for robbery under the Criminal Code,” he said.
Dewi left her home in Cempaka Putih, East Ciputat, on June 26 and was reported missing by her parents the next day. — JP
