AKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned eight witnesses in relation to alleged bribes paid by the Bekasi municipality to the West Java’s Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) auditors Wednesday.
The police earlier arrested three people linked to the case, including an auditor accused of receiving a
Rp 272 million (US$30,000) bribe to issue of the municipality’s financial report with an unqualified opinion.
On the same day, the KPK also summoned a witness in a case of alleged corruption in the procurement of medical equipment at the Health Ministry in 2007, which caused state losses of Rp 4.8 billion.
The KPK also heard testimonies from witnesses of two other corruption cases: the information system procurement at state own electricity firm PT PLN’s Lampung branch and home solar power procurement at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry. — JP
