JAKARTA: An unknown assailant tried to rob a woman in an elevator at a hospital on Jl. Salemba Tengah, Central Jakarta, on Thursday morning.
“When I was going from the first floor to the third floor using an elevator, a dark-skinned man in checkered shirt and grey cap suddenly pulled out a knife and pointed it at me,” said the victim, who works for private television station, as quoted by news portal detik.com.
The woman, who declined to be named, said that none of her belongings were missing. She discovered a nosebleed after leaving the hospital.
“Maybe my nose bled because I was shocked,” she said, saying that she refused to report the incident.
The police encouraged the woman to report the attempted robbery so that a further investigation could be conducted.
“We contacted the hospital management, but they deny that such incident took place this morning,” North Jakarta police criminal unit chief Commissioner Budi Sartono said.
Hartaty, the hospital security chief, said that security officers or nurses would have helped anyone who was seemed to be afraid or hurt. “We checked the elevator and CCTV cameras installed in every corridor of the hospital,” he added. — JP
