A power outage in the Australian city of Melbourne has delayed thousands of train commuters during rush hour.
Metro spokeswoman Geraldine Mitchell said power between Southern Cross Station and North Melbourne Statin was cut early Tuesday, delaying peak services by up to one hour and leaving stranded passengers in the dark.
Mitchell said the delays were across the network, including a major impact on regional train services.
"Because of where it occurred it affects trains coming from every part of Melbourne," Mitchell told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio.
Some power has been restored to the city's loop area, allowing altered services.
