A spokesman for the family of spiritual guru Anand Khrisna, who has been named suspect in a sexual harassment case, has denied widespread media reports saying that his father is currently under city arrest.
Anand's son, Prashant Ghangtani, said the Jakarta High Prosecutor Office had confirmed Anand and his lawyers that they would not arrest him due to his health condition even though had received complete dossiers for his case from the Jakarta Police.
"When we left the [Jakarta High Prosecutor] office last night, there was no city arrest issued. The prosecutors let my father went home after receiving medical report made yesterday that proves his unfit condition," Prashant told the Jakarta Post.
Prashant said his father has been currently staying at home to receive thorough medical treatment due to severe heart problem.
Anand's case began when Tara Pradipta Laksmi, 19, a former student of Anand's meditation classes, reported the case to the police earlier this year. Tara said she was touched without her consent because she was hypnotized by Anand when the molestation took place, leaving her unable to refuse his advances.
Sumida, Anand's former employee, and three other women made similar accusations against Anand.
Anand, however, repeatedly denied this accusation, saying that his center "only practiced meditation, not hypnosis."
