July 18, Online: In another effort to prevent traffic congestion, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked the police escort to close only one lane for his motorcade.  “The President has forbidden a total traffic block for his convoy,”  said presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha over the weekend as quoted by tempointeraktif.com. Yudhoyono’s request was in response to a complaint from Cibubur resident Hendra N.S., who protested the unfavorable conduct of some police officers escorting the presidential convoy. Hendra’s criticism was published in Kompas daily on June 16.

Your comments:

The President should live in Merdeka Palace. SBY should be expected to live in the Presidential residence, just as President Obama resides in the White House in the US.
By living outside the Istana Merdeka, the President’s daily commute is inefficient and problematic. Former president Abdurrahman Wahid was living in the Palace until he was impeached.

I agree that President SBY should live at the State Palace for the duration of his tenure. In addition to creating public disturbances and traffic jams, living outside the Palace consumes both time and money.
