Pong Harjatmo -- Kompas Former movie star Pong Harjatmo created a public stunt at the House of Representatives on Friday as he painted words on top of the legislative body’s Nusantara building.
The artist wrote “honest, fair and firm” on top of the turtle-shaped building, which has been known as the landmark of the House.
Pong was then apprehended by the House internal security officers.
The former actor told reporters he was disappointed with the performance of the House and the government. He said that both the state institutions had failed to resolve major cases, such as the Bank Century scandal.
“Now, I also see that there is a growing trend of legislators skipping meetings,” he said.
Pong said that he expressed the disappointment of the Indonesian people.
In response to the incident, of the House deputy speakers, Priyo Budi Santoso from the Golkar Party, said anyone could convey his or her aspirations to the legislators.
“However, do not be reckless,” he said.
Priyo also asked the House internal security to stay on alert to prevent such an incident from recurring.
