Mother slits her baby’s throat

JAKARTA: A 39-year-old mother killed her two-week-old daughter, Aulia, with a kitchen knife for unknown reasons in their house in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Sunday morning.

The baby’s father, Sugino, said his wife, Sunari, had admitted that she killed their baby after he saw his wife holding their daughter and a blood-drenched knife.

“I came back from work at 10 a.m. when I found our house was locked. I knocked three times and my wife opened the door,” Sugino, 42, said as quoted by Detik.com.

“I was shocked when I saw the wound on my daughter’s neck, then my wife told me that she had killed our daughter,” he said, refusing to say why his wife had committed the crime.

The infant was taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for an autopsy, the mother to the Pasar Minggu Police station for questioning. — JP
