The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) administration has said that it needed Rp 51 billion (US$5.7 million) in funding to rebuild its Bima port, which is located at the eastern peninsula of Sumbawa Island.
“The design is being prepared,” NTB communication and information office head Ridwan Syah
said in Mataram on Tuesday as quoted by Antara.
He said the port was redesigned so it would be representative and friendly for pioneer
sailings to remote areas and cargo ships.
The Transportation Ministry also fully supported Bima’s Integrated Economy Development Area
(KAPET), which was launched in 2008, added Ridwan.
The KAPET has been connecting people in Bima and Dompu regencies and providing a hub for
economic activities in the plantations sector.
