Unreliable service: (JP)Unreliable service: (JP)Blackouts in several parts in Jakarta may last longer than expected as state power firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) find difficulties in starting up its Muara Karang power plant.

"Initially, we expect the power to be on again by 12:00 p.m., but, as we find technical problems during the start up of the power plant, the blackout is likely to continue until 2:00 p.m.," PLN general manager for Greater Jakarta area Purnomo Willy told The Jakarta Post Tuesday.

Power supply from the Muara Karang power plant dropped by 700 mega watt Tuesday morning, because part of its facilities were hit hard by a crane conducting expansion in the power plants.

The incidents have caused blackouts in several areas in Jakarta, including Budi Kemuliaan, Kebon Sirih, Pluit, Muara Karang, Cengkareng, Tangerang, Sarinah, and Thamrin.
