Letter: Car fuel pump failures
| Tue, 08/03/2010 10:11 AM
Taxi operators have launched continuous protests and criticism, and have
accused Pertamina of supplying inferior quality gasoline to fuel
stations causing fuel pump failures not only to taxi companies but also
to owners of private cars, who have had to replace costly fuel pumps on a
regular basis.
This is causing extreme financial losses not only to many taxi companies in general but also to the public in particular.
My car recently went for the required 5,000-kilometer service and the
garage advised me not to refuel at Pertamina gas stations but Shell, Petrobras and Total for refueling. The garage has already
replaced new car fuel pumps for many of its customers.
By supplying contaminated gasoline, Pertamina is now cutting its own
throat. The government is again turning a blind eye and allows Pertamina
to continue its current policies of unloading bad quality gasoline
to unsuspecting customers.
Apparently, the Institute for Consumer Protection is sleeping and just
vegetating and has done practically nothing to protect the public from
hazardous products such as life-threatening gas canisters and bad
gasoline
It is understandable that noone likes to go against a powerful company
like Pertamina, especially since its management has already threatened
to take protesting consumers to Court. The public is outraged and calls
on the central government to act immediately and if necessary, replace
the current Pertamina management as it has failed to supply superior
quality gasoline to the public.
SBY, stop being a paralyzed spectator and act as the President.
