Heavy rain put Gorontalo to a halt

Torrential rain that has been pouring since Wednesday night in Gorontalo City, Gorontalo, has crippled the town, inundating thousands of homes and main roads.

Antara news agency reported Thursday. that rain water has inundated homes and hundreds of hectares of farm fields in six districts.

Local authorities have began evacuation of residents whose houses were inundated by water more than a meter high.

Gorontalo City administration has ordered district and sub-district to set up coordination posts in anticipation of worsening flood.
