The police have yet to name any suspect in connection with a raid allegedly involved members of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) in Banyuwangi, East Java, which occurred more than one month ago.
On Thursday, police detectives examined the case at the National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta. House of Representatives legislators Rieke Diah Pitaloka and Nursuhud, both from, of the House of Representatives’ Commission IX overseeing health affairs, attended the examination as witnesses of the incident.
“I’m really disappointed. The examination concluded that the police were unable to find sufficient evidence they needed to name suspects, although we have handed over evidence, photographs, to detectives,” Rieke told journalists after the meeting.
Rieke and Nursuhud, along with Commission IX chairlawmaker Ribka Tjiptaning, initiated the gathering to discuss the new health bill in a restaurant in Banyuwangi.
A group of FPI members suddenly arrived and broke up the meeting.
The lawmakers also reported the incident to the National Commission for Human Rights (Komnas HAM).
