Former justice and human rights minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra expressed confidence in the acceptance of the judicial review request he filed with the Constitutional Court.
"I am certain that the arguments in the request have a solid legal basis," Yusril said after a hearing session at the Constitutional Court regarding the judicial review of Hendarman Supandji's legality as the attorney general.
Yusril added that he was confident about the constitutional court judges' fairness in weighing the case.
"I am certain that the Constitutional Court will not be swayed easily by any party even though the government could make approaches," he said.
He emphasized that he was sure of the judges' integrity.
"It is their duty to act as guardians of the constitution," he said.
He added that he will bring in expert witnesses, whom he declined to name, during the next hearing.
Yusril filed a judicial review of the law on Attorney General’s Office after state prosecutors named him a suspect in an online service graft involving the Justice Ministry. (gzl)
