FPI chief criticizes the media over ‘misleading’ coverage

Islam Defenders Front (FPI) chief Muhammad Rizieq Shihab condemned the media for biased reporting of FPI activities.

“The media has presented misleading information,” Rizieq said Monday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com, adding that the media blames the FPI whenever violations occur.

The media’s reportage of FPI activities is imbalanced, Rizieq said.

Rizieq mentioned the recent crack down on an ex-Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) discussion in

Banyuwangi, East Java, and an attack on Christians in Bekasi, West Java.

“No one apologized after it was disclosed that the attackers were not members of FPI,” Rizieq said.

“The press broadcast almost all incidents involving the FPI and various nightclubs, but they never mentioned anything about FPI members that were slashed by nightclub security guards,” he added.
