Businessman Andi Kosasih named a police general on Tuesday in a bribery case centering around former junior tax officer Gayus Halomoan Tambunan.

In his testimony at the graft trial of police detective Adj. Comr. Sri Sumartini, Andi said he had given more than US$10,500 in cash to then National Police special economic crimes director Brig. Gen. Edmon Ilyas, through the defendant.

“The money was Gayus'. He gave it to me at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Jakarta," Andi told the hearing at South Jakarta District Court.

Andi said he handed over the money to Sumartini at a Kemang hotel.

Earlier, Sumartini had admitted she had given the money to Edmon, who was then her superior. “I received the money on an order from my boss,” she said.

Edmon and his successor, Brig. Gen. Raja Erizman, have been repeatedly named by defendants in the judicial corruption case. However, neither has faced criminal charges nor ethical tribunals so far.
