Indonesia’s CDMA operator PT Bakrie Telecom (BTEL) has secured US$300 million in loan from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC).
The loan will be used to finance BTEL’s capital expenditure, the company said in a statement published Thursday. The loan is extended in China’s Renmimbi denomination which equals $300 million.
“The support from ICBC will help us expanding our network so that more people can use BTEL’s high quality and affordable voice and data service,” BTEL’s president director Anindya Bakrie said.
BTEL provides fixed wireless access through Esia, Wifone, Wimode, and SLI Hemat 009.
