The National Police abruptly canceled a ceremony for the high-ranking police officers' post transfer, scheduled at 8 a.m. on Friday because police chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri was reportedly summoned by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
“The police chief was summoned to Cikeas,” said a member of the internal affairs unit in charge of guarding the police headquarters' main meeting room where the ceremony was planned to be held, referring to the private residence of the President.
However, National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Edward Aritonang said something different. “The ceremony was postponed because the National Police chief and deputy chief were on duty out of the office,” said Edward who declined to elaborate, according to tempointeraktif.com.
The high-ranking police officers whose posts are to be transferred included Edward, intended to be assigned the new Central Java Police chief to replace Insp. Gen. Alex Bambang Riatmodjo.
