National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Edward Aritonang said Saturday that the were possibilities that the police would move Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Ba’asyir, who has been named a terror suspect, from the current detention at the Criminal Investigation Unit.
Edward told kompas.com that it was likely Ba'asyir would be moved to the police's Mobile Brigade Detention Center in Depok next week.
Ba’asyir was arrested in the West Java town of Banjar on Monday and has since refused to respond to investigators during questioning at the National Police headquarters in South Jakarta, except for his biodata and the process of his arrest.
Ba'asyir is facing accusations of setting up a terror cell and militant training camp in Aceh that plotted high-profile assassinations and bloody attacks on foreigners in Jakarta.
The police are detaining Ba'asyir under a temporary detention under the terrorism crime law. The detention will expire next Monday.
Edward said that the investigators would make a decision over further detention before the expiration date.
