Police to reroute traffic around Presidential Palace

Five roads around the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta will be closed and three Transjakarta bus corridors that pass the area will be diverted for the 65th Independence Day celebrations on Aug. 17.
“We hope people understand the situation,” Jakarta Traffic Police chief Sr. Corm. Condro Kirono said Friday.
“We advise motorists passing the Palace area to seek alternative routes or follow new traffic directions,” he said.
Vehicles from Jl. MH Thamrin heading to Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat passing the Arjunawijaya traffic circle will be diverted via Jl. Budi Kemuliaan, Jl. Abdul Muis and Jl. Majapahit to Harmoni.
Traffic flow from Jl. Budi Kemuliaan to Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat traffic circle will be redirected to Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan or rerouted right to Jl. MH Thamrin.
Vehicles from Jl. Abdul Muis heading to Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat will be redirected via Jl. Majapahit to Harmoni.
Police will redirect traffic from Jl. Hayam Wuruk Barat to Harmoni via Jl. Majapahit.
From Jl. Ir Juanda to Blok M, motorists can use Jl. Veteran III via Jl. Pos, Pejambon, the Tugu Tani monument, Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan and past Arjunawijaya traffic circle.
Those passing Jl. Veteran Raya at the Pintu Air traffic circle will be redirected to Jl. Pos, Lapangan Banten, Tugu Tani monument and Arjunawijaya traffic circle.
Vehicles passing Jl. Veteran Raya will be rerouted right via Jl. Pos to Jl. Gunung Sahari.
Traffic from Jl. Medan Merdeka Timur headed to Kota will be rerouted to Jl. Perwira via Lapangan Banteng to Jl. Gunung Sahari.
City transportation agency head Udar Pristono said Transjakarta buses plying corridor I (Blok M-Kota), corridor II (Pulogadung-Harmoni) and corridor III (Kalideres-Harmoni) would bypass the area and would use other lanes from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m and from 3 p.m to 7 p.m. that day. (rch/not)
