Transjakarta accident kills student

JAKARTA: A student of the State University of Jakarta (UNJ) died after he was hit by a Transjakarta bus on Jl. Otista Raya, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on Friday.

Komardani, 20, was killed when crossing the busway lane.

East Jakarta Police traffic accident unit chief Adj. Comr. Purwito said that Komardani was wearing a helmet when the accident took place. The student has parked his motorcycle to the side of the street and crossed the street with a friend, Purwito said, as quoted by kompas.com.

“The bus driver said she had honked her horn at the pair, but it seems that Komardani didn’t hear,” Purwito added.

Komardani lived on Jl. Nanas, Matraman, East Jakarta. He suffered severe injuries to his back and body and died on the way to nearby Budi Asih hospital. — JP
