JAKARTA: The city police will deploy more than 3,000 personnel in strategic locations throughout Jakarta to secure the 65th anniversary of Indonesian independence on Tuesday.

“We will deploy more than 3,000 police officers,” city police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said Sunday, as reported by detik.com news portal.

The Indonesian Military (TNI) would also participate in the security detail, he added.

“I’m not sure how many TNI personnel will stand guard during the anniversary,” Boy said.

According to the plan, the police plan to have 1,334 officers standing guard at areas near the State Palace on Jl. Medan Merdeka Utara, Central Jakarta, and around 678 officers near the House of Representatives complex in Central Jakarta.

The police will also deploy 537 officers to secure the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta, and other officers to secure government offices and the Kemayoran-Expo areas in Central Jakarta. - JP
