Girl shot as robber fails to steal motorbike

A suspected robber opened fire that wounded a 17-year-old girl on Jl Kemang Timur Raya in South Jakarta on Thursday afternoon after he failed to steal a motorcycle.

“The bullet hit the girl's right knee and she has been admitted to the JMC hospital,” Mampang Prapatan police station chief Comr. Risto Samudra said. The victim is identified as Ayu Aprilia

Risto said the suspected robber opened fire as angry people would capture him. The suspect fled along with his companion, who had been waiting for him on a motorcycle.

According to witnesses, the suspect, aged about 20 years old, is a male with brown skin and very short haircut. (rch)
