Mild quake hits West Java

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit Tasikmalaya in West Java on Thursday morning, but there were no reports of casualties or damage.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency reported that the quake hit at 10:31a.m. and the epicenter was located 264 kilometers southwest of Tasikmalaya at 10 kilometers beneath the surface.
Last week, a magnitude 5.8 quake hit Sukabumi, West Java and was reportedly felt in Jakarta and Bandung.
In September 2009, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit the southern part of West Java, killing dozens and displacing more than 210,000, including around 140,000 in Tasikmalaya regency.
