SEMARANG: An incident marred the announcement of the results of the police entrance test Wednesday when a man claiming to be the Wamena Police chief in Papua province protested to National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. Yusuf Manggabarani after learning his son was among those failing.
After the announcement was over, the man walked to Yusuf’s desk, and shouted, “I was the one who made peace in the wake of a tribal war in Papua. My son has three times enrolled in the admission test and failed, where is justice?”
The encounter lasted briefly because security guards rushed to the scene, pulling him out of the conference hall.
Police said they were yet to question the man and could not confirm if he was indeed the Wamena Police chief as he claimed. Yusuf said he was not offended by the incident, saying that he could understand how the man, as a father, felt upon knowing his son failed the police admission tests.
“Everyone is proud of their children, but I think the admission tests had been very transparent,” he said as quoted by Antara. — JP
