JAKARTA: On the heels of Malaysia and Indonesia’s most recent border spat, one minister is promoting his program as a recipe to ensure Indonesian sovereignty.
Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Fadel Muhammad said Saturday that his initiative, called Blue Revolution, would increase production at nine dedicated breeding centers for specific fish.
Indonesia could then face Malaysia with more dignity after such a successful fisheries enterprise is developed, Fadel said.
Fadel previously said he was displeased with Malaysia after it detained three of his officials, who were imprisoned and handcuffed by Malaysian authorities while doing their job and arresting seven Malaysian fishermen who trespassed into Indonesian territory. He said such treatment showed that Malaysia belittled Indonesia.
Showing dignity to Malaysia is important, Fadel said. — JP
