CIREBON, West Java: Two armed robbers took Rp 366 million (US$40,789) from two gas station employees in Cirebon, West Java, Monday.

No casualties were reported.

The incident took place around noon when the robbers shot twice at a gas station employee’s car, forcing it to stop, witnesses said.

“The robbers were wearing helmets and black jackets. It happened so fast,” said witness Pendi.

A police team is searching for the robbers and are guarding the city’s entry and exit points, Cirebon city police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Herukoco said.

The robbery was not the latest incident in Cirebon.

Another robbery took place in May when two civil servants were killed by robbers after withdrawing Rp 529 million from a bank to pay for teachers’ salaries. — JP
