Bali sees abundant rice harvest

DENPASAR: Bali produced 840,000 tons of rice from 150,000 hectares of paddy fields this harvest season, making it one of the provinces that had a surplus in rice production this year, a government official says.

Bali Central Statistics Agency chief Amiruddin said technically Bali did not need to import rice from other islands.

“However, Bali lacks facilities to manage and stockpile its rice supplies, which means Bali still has to rely on rice supplies from outside.” — JP
