The government through the Toll Road Regulator will allocate Rp 6 trillion (US$667 million) over the next three years to acquire land needed to build toll roads, Antara state news agency reported.
Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said at the House of Representatives on Wednesday the government had earmarked Rp 2.3 trillion in the 2010 revised state budget and would allot the rest in 2011, 2012 and 2013 fiscal years.
Agus said the land acquisition was part of the government’s plan to build 22 toll roads nationwide covering 776 kilometers until 2014.
The real need for fund to clear land for the projects is estimated to reach Rp 12.7 trillion.
