Dozens of journalists grouped under the Tangerang’s Journalists Working Group (Pokja) gathered at the gate of Tangerang Metro police headquarters on Jl. Daan Mogot on Tuesday in a show of solidarity for slain Sun TV journalist Ridwan Salamun.
The journalists distributed a written statement which expressed their concern about the incident and their protest against use of violence against the press.
“Therefore, we demand that the police fully investigate the case and take stern measures against the suspects,” Pokja chairman Andre Somanegara said.
After reading out the statement alternately, the journalists concluded the rally by showering flower petals at the entrance gate of the police headquarters to express their condolence.
Ridwan was killed while covering a communal clash between Banda Ely and Fiditan villagers in Tual municipality, Maluku on Saturday.
