JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) plans to return Rp 700 million (US$70,000) in evidence from former health minister Ahmad Sujudi.

KPK spokesman Johan Budi said the money would be returned Wednesday. The money has been declared ready to be returned to the state by the Corruption Court judges.

In addition, Sujudi still has to pay Rp 200 million as ordered by the Jakarta High Court.

Sujudi was previously sentenced to two years in jail and fined Rp 100 million by the Corruption Court in April. He appealed and the Jakarta High Court slapped on another two years and an additional Rp 100 million.

On Tuesday, he was transferred to Cipinang Prison from Cipinang Detention Center based on the high court’s appeal decision.

Sujudi was found guilty of abusing his power in direct appointment of PT Kimia Farma Trade and Distribution to procure medical equipment to eastern Indonesia. — JP
