The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will accept either of the two candidates proposed to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Friday for the new anti-graft body chairman.

KPK spokesman Johan Budi said Friday that the KPK will accept whoever is finally selected by the House of Representatives because the candidate has undergone various tests conducted by the selection committee.

However, Johan said it would be difficult for the new KPK chairman to change the anti-corruption body right away because he would be required to cooperate with another four KPK leaders.

“Besides, the system rules in the KPK. So, he must comply with the existing mechanisms,” he said.

Johan added that the KPK was expecting a new chairman who had integrity, courage and technical knowledge about law.

“In addition to having integrity and courage, the new chairman should be able to capture the spirit of corruption eradication and this is supported by sufficient knowledge of the law,” KPK spokesman Johan Budi said Friday at his office.

Earlier Friday, the selection committee, led by Justice and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar, proposed two candidate names, human rights activist Bambang Widjojanto and Judicial Commission chairman Muhammad Busyro Muqoddas, to Yudhoyono and Vice President Boediono at the Presidential Office.
