The Car free day in Jakarta lost thousands of its fans on Sunday as it fell during the Ramadan fasting month.

Kompas.com reported that there were not many cyclists and pedestrians along Jl. M.H. Thamrin, which was usually packed with thousands of people doing exercises and celebrating the day without cars.

Nurul, a resident in Blok A, South Jakarta, said people might limit their exercises during the Ramadan fasting month.

"I still did my car free day activity, but I did not ride my bike, I just took a busway from Blok M to the National Monument and then walked around the monument compound," she said.
