Around 100,000 faulty LPG cylinders are still in public use across Central Java and Yogyakarta.
However, state-owned gas and oil company Pertamina has promised to withdraw them soon, spokeswoman Heppy Wulansari said, adding that all gas refilling stations in the region would gradually pull the broken cylinders from circulation.
“If we find inappropriate canisters when refilling, we will immediately exchange them with new replacements,” Heppy said Sunday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
The company has replaced 200,000 defective cylinders from an approximate total of 300,000, Heppy said.
“We expect to replace all damaged canisters by end of year,” she added.
