Volcanic ash clouds blanket

Thin ash clouds blanketed Medan on Sunday following the eruption of Mount Sinabung, but they have yet to cause flight schedule delays.

Polonia Medan meteorology, climatology and geophysics agency (BMKG) official Firman said the wind pushed the ash clouds from northwest to northeast of Medan.

"Ash shower may occur in Medan at noon," he said as quoted by kompas.com.

He suggested Medan residents avoid outdoor activities as the ash clouds could cause respiratory and eyes problems.
