Three men and a woman were arrested Tuesday morning following a brawl between two rival groups that erupted on Jl. Kramat Pulo Dalam in Senen, Central Jakarta, just as Muslims were preparing their pre-dawn meals.
Second Insp. Suratmo of the Senen Police told tempointeraktif.com that they had arrested Ahmad Kadafi (19), Muhammad Abdu (17), Dimas (23) and Siti Umaroh (18).
Suratmo said the brawl began after a group of people threw a small wooden crate at Kadafi and Umaroh, from Community Unit 07 and 05, who were riding a motorcycle through an area in Community Unit 08. The residents of the disparate units have been known to be involved in violent rivalry.
Kadafi and Umaroh came off the motorcycle and were injured. They ran away, leaving the motorcycle, and told the local leaders of Unit 07 and 05. Dozens of people from both units then sought retaliation and started a neighborhood brawl.
