Justice and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar expressed his disappointment Tuesday over the Corruption Court decision to sentence businessman Anggodo Widjojo to four years in prison for attempting to bribe Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chairman.
“There were cell phone snatchers who turned in the stolen phone but still got nine months in prison,” he told journalists at the presidential office as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Patrialis, however, said the government could not interfere with the sentence as it was under the jurisdiction of the court.
“I'm just making a comparison, but we can't do anything about it,” he said.
Anggodo was found guilty Tuesday of attempting to bribe Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah, deputy chairmen of the KPK, to halt the corruption investigation into his fugitive brother Anggoro Widjojo.
