The European Union has applauded President Barack Obama for getting the Mideast peace talk going again after two years.
EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said she hoped the Washington talks will deliver significant results within one year. She commended the U.S. for getting the talks resumed.
In a statement Thursday she said "supporters of peace must persevere through difficult times."
This week, Ashton condemned the killing of four Israelis near Hebron. Hamas, the Palestinian faction running the Gaza Strip, claimed responsibility for the killings.
