Letter: Adopt me please!

I found a dog, which I call Jati, sitting in the rain on Jatinegara highway in February. I thought he was just lost, so I stopped by and wanted to rescue him to a safe place, like a housing complex near the highway.

But when my friends and I approached the dog, he could only walk using his two front legs, so we assumed that he had been the victim of hit-and-run accident.

After 45 minutes trying to approach him, as he was scared and in pain, we brought Jati to my pet’s doctor in Kemang. After three operations on his broken backbone, Jati has now recovered. He is as healthy as any other dog.

However, nobody wants to adopt him, although I realize it is hard to have a disabled dog. He can go for walks every day as he uses a wheelchair. The wheelchair that he uses is on loan from the clinic, so if someone adopts Jati, he/she will have to have a wheelchair.

I called him Jati after Jatinegara, where we found him. I hope there is someone out there who would like to adopt Jati to be part of his or her family. Interested? Email me to cphan24@gmail.com.
